Brokering Service
This page outlines the process that many of our tens of thousands of forum members have used.
We protect both the buyer & the seller by providing a middleman to your transaction. This means that the buyer isn't sending any money blindly and the seller isn't sending any documents blindly.
You benefit from the experience and knowledge of a trusted number plate dealer to help ensure a smooth transaction.
How does it work?
Either the buyer or seller can contact us and either the buyer or seller can pay us. The charge for our brokering service is £250 plus VAT.
We take the following information:
- Buyer's name, email & phone number
- Seller's name, email & phone number
- The registration in question
- The agreed sale price
We then request funds from the buyer to be paid into our business account (Dateless Registrations Ltd) and we request the documents from the seller (ID, proof their bank account is in their name and a copy of the retention document).
If the buyer or seller pull out before the deal is complete, we fully refund the buyer their monies.
We politely request that monies and documents are sent to us promptly once requested. Delays elongate the process and make it less commercially viable for us as a business. We also politely request that monies are sent from the buyer in one single transaction rather than many smaller payments.
We recommend that the buyer supplies us with a clear picture of the whole front page of a V5C logbook, for a vehicle that doesn't currently have a private plate assigned, so we can directly assign the newly acquired plate to this vehicle. This is the safest method because it generates a new document for the plate in the buyer's name and the seller therefore no longer has legal rights to the plate.
You can also keep the number plate on the original document but if you do not first assign it to a vehicle in the buyer's name, it will remain in the seller's name and therefore can still be assigned to another vehicle if the seller were to choose to do so. We can provide this service, however we do not advise it and do not accept any responsibility for future issues.
Another option for buyers who do not have a car readily available to assign the plate to, is for us to supply it to you on a retention document. If this is the case, we have vehicles registered in our business name that are readily available for this purpose. This means that the number plate document no longer contains the seller's name and we can supply you a new retention document in our name. For this service we charge an additional £75 plus VAT, plus the £80 that the DVLA charge us to retain the number.
How do I arrange a transaction?
You can contact us via either of the following methods during business hours:
Please note: We accept no liability beyond our fee charged and once the number plate has been shown by the DVLA system to have been assigned to the buyers car, and the seller's money has been transferred to the buyer, our responsibility and liability and commitment to both the buyer and seller ends.
